Sachal Sarmast | Dargah Sachal Sarmast Ranipur | Sufi Poet Of Sindh

Sachal Sarmast | Dargah Sachal Sarmast Ranipur | Sufi Poet Of Sindh

Sachal Sarmast (1739–1827) was a Sufi poet from Sindh, Pakistan. He wrote poetry in 7 languages, most prominently in Sindhi, during the Kalhoro/Talpur era of Sindh. He was born in Daraza, near Ranipur, Sindh. His real name was Abdul Wahab Farouqi, he was also nicknamed "Sachal" or "Sachoo". He used this pen-name in his poetry: Sachu means 'truthful' - while in Sindhi Sarmast means 'ecstatic' in Sindhi and Urdu alike. Sachal Sarmast literally means 'truthful mystic' or can be translated as "Ecstatic Saint of Truth". Sachal's father Mian Salahuddin died when he was a child. He was later raised by his uncle, Pir Khawaja Abdul Haq, who also became his spiritual master. He married his uncle's daughter, but the young woman died two years later. He never remarried. It is said that he never left Daraza, which was state by then. Sachal's poetical works are sung by local singers in Sindhi and Saraiki; his shrine is in the village Daraza, near Ranipur, Khairpur District, Sindh, Pakistan. Sachal Sarmast was an ardent follower of Wahdat-ul-Wujood (unity of existence), an Islamic Philosophy synonymous with Hamah Oost (all from One). Biography The first compendium of Sachal's poetry was by Agha Sufi. First published in 1933 in Shikarpur, Sindh, it included Sachal's biography and a critical analysis of his philosophy and poetry. The introductory chapters provide a comparative analysis of the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Sachal Sarmast, an introduction to Sufism and Vedanta (Chapter I), a biography of Sachal (Chapter II), and an explanation of the melodic modes or Raga (called "Sura" in Sindhi) that are used in Sachal's poetry (Chapter III). This is followed by a collection of Sachal's poems (Chapter IV) and a glossary and interpretation (Chapter V). #WalkForCleanAndGreenPakistan

Mehrano Wildlife Sanctuary is an enhanced riverine forest privately preserved by the Talpur Mir royal family of Khairpur Princely state with endorsement by the Sindh wildlife department. It comprises agricultural land, forest, and hunting area and is home to various flora and fauna. Mehrano Forest is home to approximately 4,000 big game animals, including blackbuck, Indian gazelle, hog deer, wild boar. Additionally the forest lake boasts resident and migratory birds from Siberia and Europe. There is a reserved place for tourists to see wild boars. H. H. Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur II, head of the royal house, has forbidden all hunting except of the jackal and an annual culling of wild boars which become a mortal threat to adjacent farmers and their families when boar populations become too large for the forest to hold. The Mehrano reserve shares its boundary with the Cholistan desert.

The Faiz Mahal is a palace in Khairpur, Sindh, Pakistan. It was built by Mir Sohrab Khan in 1798 as the principal building serving as the sovereign's court for the royal palace complex of Talpur monarchs of the Khairpur dynasty.
At present, Faiz Mahal serves as the home of the last Talpur monarch, H. H. Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur II (born 1933), and his sons Prince Abbas Raza Talpur and Prince Mehdi Raza Talpur. After the original Constituent Assembly of Pakistan was abolished by the Chaudry Ghulam Mohummed/General Iskander Mirza dictatorships, Khairpur state was merged with Pakistani state in 1955 using threat of military invasion in violation of the agreement Mir Ali Murad had with the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.[3] Today the former sovereign is an environmentalist and has to his credit an extraordinary flora and fauna safe haven called the Mehrano reserve,[7] famous for its black buck, and hog deer, which are now rare in Sindh.

The Kot Diji Fort was built by Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur,[2] between 1785 and 1795.[3] The site sits on a hill at the southern end of the Rohri Hills, and sits above a prehistoric mound of the same name, where remains of a pre-Harappan civilization have been found. The ancient site at Kot Diji was the forerunner of the Indus Civilization. The occupation of this site is attested already at 3300 BCE. The remains consist of two parts; the citadel area on high ground, and outer area. The Pakistan Department of Archaeology excavated at Kot Diji in 1955 and 1957.

March 03, 20200 Comments
JHIRK CITY | HISTORICAL CITY JHIRK | BIRTH PLACE OF QUAID E AZAM | JHIRK CITY THATTA, SINDH

In the 19th century, Jhirk was the busiest river port and centre of commercial activity in Sindh. It also served as the headquarters of the Indus flotilla, the most modern navigational system of those days.
Karachi Port near Karachi was connected to Jhirk. The headquarters of the Indus flotilla was in Jhirk town near Kotri and then it went to Mithankot Rajanpur district near Dera Ghazi Khan and then to the last point Makhad Attock. This part of Indus flotilla was called Punjab flotilla and the Indus flotilla Interchangeably. The British Indus flotilla of steamboats which once plied the Indus river is described by (Shaw 1998).
This historical village is situated on the National Highway from Hyderabad to Thatta at 50 km, which near Keenjhar Lake 26 km ahead. It is on the right bank of River Indus 400 feet high above the sea level on the little mountains. During British rule, it was an important place for the English rulers to reside. The English Capt April Spy of British crown in 1800s especially describes the majesty and weather of the city. He was stationed here from 1832 to 1839 writes that this was a great city consisting of a Bazaar of 200 shops and goods were available here at cheaper prices than Karachi.
Aga Khan I migrated from Iran to Afghanistan Hirat, after the First Afghan War of 1839, when British were in Hirat. After British defeat at hands of Amir Akbar son of Amir Dost Mohammed of Afghanistan. He then settled himself in Jhirk in Sindh in 1843 under British protection.
Aga Khan I built his Mahal (Palace) which is still exists in same good condition. He and his followers which were at least one thousand strong and with their residences there in Jhirk. The British were there too to protect him.
Sir Charles Napier initially made Jhirk the headquarters for the British Army in Sindh when he came to Sindh which was part of Bombay at that time.
The Grandfather of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who come to visit Jhirk for his Aga Khan I Hassan Ali Shah Imam’s Deedar settled here for the rest of his life and is buried there too and his grave can be found there.
His elder son, Mr. Poonja father of Mohammed Ali Jinnah was married to Sheeren Bai, the daughter of Moosa Jumo in 1874, who had also migrated along with the Agha Khan.
Some believe that Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born in Jhirk, "but most historians and biographers go along with the official line".[2] This is however important that a Maternity Home built by Agha Khan community was described by the Archaeology Department as the proper birthplace of Quaid e Azam and a blue plate remained fixed on the same with such information by the Department for over 2 decades after partition.
He was admitted in the primary school of the town established in 1870. The school's General Register is missing. Before this controversy when the announcement of his Birth Place was made in the teaching course taught in Pakistan until 1962. It was written as Jhirk in the 8th lession of the course till 1962 in the Books from primary to Graduation level and remained in all level of books up to the tenure of Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto 1976.
Then it was changed to Wazir Mansion (Karachi) near Light House Karachi as Quaid-i- Azam Birth Place and a Fresh controversy arose again about birthplace of Quaid e Azam and a change was made during Gen Zia Government, it was again admitted in the books that Karachi was birth Place of Quaid-e-Azam.
A Buddha Stupa on the other side of river Indus indicates the historical position of the city. Despite having a brilliant past, Jhirk present situation is very critical. Very little income sources are found in this city. People are dependent on special Aid and Grants from Government.

The Aga Khan Palace, which was built in 1843 by Aga Sultan Mohammed Shah in remembrance of the late Aga Hassan Ali Shah, in the historical Jhirk Town in district Thatta, still remains beautiful, portraying the proficient work of the architects of yesteryears. At the time the palace was built, the River Indus used to flow along its walls, providing scenic beauty to his highness’ family and guests. The River Indus changed its course after 1973 when water projects were launched upstream, blocking its natural flow. Though the river now flows around half kilometer away from the place, the scenic beauty has not faded, and visitors still enjoy the fresh air and greenery from the rooftop. The palace built when Hasan Ali Shah (1817-1881), the Aga Khan-I and the 46th Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismailis.

Darbar Sahib Halani | Mandir Darbar Sahib | Darabar Sahib Halani Sindh

The best way to describe our Darbar Sahib Halani, when it was first established by Baba Sukhdev Sahib in 1787. Mirs, the Muslim rulers conquered Sind from Kalhoras, the Hindu rulers and the new ruler, Mir Fateh Ali Khan Talpur divided it into four parts, one for each of his four brothers. While moving alongwith his caravan from Ghaznavi, to take possession of his part of the kingdom, Mir Allahyarakhan Mankani Talpur sighted a Mahatma sitting in deep meditation. After He opened His eyes, the Mir sought His blessings and humbly requested the Mahatma to accompany him to his newly acquired estate. The Mahatma was none other than Baba Sukhdev Sahib, who looking at Mir’s humility and devotion, agreed to do so. Baba initially stayed in the ashram specially constructed by the Mir for Him and later, after visiting places like Hyderabad (Sind), Sehwan, etc. finally reached Halani. Baba was so overwhelmed at the sight of the thick forest, that He decided to spend the rest of His life here. He built a small hut for Himself and this is how Halani Darbar was established. At the behest of the devotees, who grew greatly in numbers, this simple hut was converted into a proper building, where katha & kirtan were conducted everyday. Once when Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur of Khairpur Mirs, was passing, he was so impressed by the activities of the Darbar, that he gifted 8 guntas, 30 acres of land to the Darbar and requested that the produce of this land be used for langar (free meals for all) distributed by the Darbar. #WalkForCleanAndGreenPakistan

Sur Ramkali | Shah Abdul Latif | Shah Jo Risalo | Faqeer Juman Shah | Hidden Talent of Sindh

Shah Jo Risalo (Sindhi: شاھ جو رسالو‎) is a poetic compendium of famous Sindhi Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. In fact, it is many compendia, for Shah Abdul Latif's poetry in various forms of bayt and wai was compiled by many of his devotees during his lifetime and after his death. The devotees compiled his poetry and designated it as Shah Jo Risalo or Poetry of Shah. Ernest Trumpp called it Diwan when he edited the Risalo and published it from Leipzig, Germany in 1866 A.D. Afterwards, many scholars and linguists have published the Shah Jo Risalo with their own compilations, hence many editions are available. Shah Jo Risalo, written in very pure and concise Sindhi verses, is great storehouse for Muslims but also for the Hindus. Shah Abdul Latif has hidden his mystical ideas under layers of symbols taken from all spheres of life as well as from the classical Sufi tradition, and particularly from Maulana Rumi's Mathnawi. The traditional 31 Surs included in Shah Jo Risalo are: 1. Kalyaan 2. Yaman Kalyaan 3. Khanbhaat 4. Suri Raag 5. Samundi 6. Sohni 7. Sassui Aburi 8. Maazuri 9. Desi 10. Kohyari 11. Husaini 12. Lilan Chanesar 13. Momal Rano 14. Marui 15. Kaamod 16. Ghattu 17. Sorath 18. Kedaro 19. Sarang 20. Asaa 21. Rippa 22. Khahori 23. Barwo sindhi 24. Ramkali 25. Kapati 26. Purab 27. Karayal 28. The Shah Jahan Mosque, also known as the Jamia Masjid of Thatta is undoubtedly the most beautiful Mughal structure in Sindh. Built by the Mughal king as a gift to the people of Thatta for their hospitality, the construction of this mosque started in 1644 and took about three years to complete. Besides the simplistic yet elegant design, and the stunning red bricks that win you over, it is the geometrical details of the mosque where the real beauty lies.
